Smush Culture is the final publication of a college module on subcultures. Each week of class we studied a different culture and its design aesthetics. We were also tasked with creating work based on the communities we studied, or our own personal subcultures.
The book is a collection of that work, and is also itself a representation of a newly generated set of visual aesthetics based on the theme of "smush". The "smush" culture is an attempt to apply what We learned about subcultures/communities and their visual aesthetics in order to make our own subculture.
The final book was printed in riso at the dropout press. The lettering was sourced from the distiller's press and scanned while moving to create the smush effect.
